In an effort to bring positive change through sports, the Women and Humanitarian Committee of the Lebanese Badminton Federation organized a meaningful workshop at Roumieh Central Prison as part of the “Sports Unite and Develop” program initiated by the federation. The workshop aimed to contribute to societal development through sports. On Wednesday, July 10, 2022, the event took place with the presence of the President of the Lebanese Badminton Federation and Deputy President of the International Badminton Federation, Jassem Kanso, Judge Fatima Majid, Deputy President of the Badminton Federation, Rola Majzoub Kabbani, Secretary-General Paul Rukoz, and federation members Ghaleb Fakih and Ali Kazma. The organizing committee included Mirna Halal and Grace Obeid, along with national team players Christofer Abi Younes, Alex Husseini, Maroun Hawik, Oliver Khoury, and media coordinator Antoine Majdalani. The activity commenced with speeches from President Kanso, Judge Majid, and media coordinator Majdalani. Subsequently, inmates engaged in friendly sports competitions fostering camaraderie, spreading hope, and bringing joy to the participants. The prisoners actively participated and enjoyed the event organized within the central prison walls, which came to life. Following the inmate competitions, members of the national team joined in, concluding the journey with President Kanso promising a swift return and incorporating the activity into the federation’s future plans.
